Where the art of seeing meets the practice of living.
Hello, friend.
Welcome to See Differently. Live Intentionally., a publication by me, Dan D’Ascenzo.
Here, I write about the intersection of seeing and being. I share visual notes from my photowalks, deep essays on the messy business of being human, and the quiet practice of slowing down in a world that wants us to rush.
I am a documentary photographer and Mindfulness & Self-Compassion coach.
I have spent years training my eye to find beauty in the imperfect, and training my mind to treat myself with kindness.
But what you really need to know about me is this:
I believe that attention is the highest form of love.
When we pay attention to our world, we feel more alive. When we pay attention to ourselves, we feel more at peace.
And when we pay attention, we can finally live with intention.
Why am I writing this?
Years ago, I picked up a camera for a simple reason: to free my mind.
I felt the blur of life—the hustle, the anxiety, the feeling that time was slipping away. Photography became my anchor. It taught me that if I stopped running and just looked, the chaos would resolve.
I realized that Seeing Differently wasn’t just about photography and technique.
It was a mindset skill.
Now, I share that skill with you.
What to expect in your inbox
I know your inbox is a busy place. I want this newsletter to be the moment you actually look forward to opening.
I have created two spaces for us to meet:
What you will find inside
This isn’t just a newsletter; it’s a digital pause button. I have designed two distinct paths to help you practice presence:
1. See Differently (The Visuals)
Beauty is a practice.
This is your visual reset. Expect photo essays, “visual notes”, and creative prompts to help you train your eye. This is about learning to find the extraordinary in the ordinary… A core skill of mindfulness.
2. Live Intentionally (The Mindset)
Essays on presence, clarity, and self-compassion.
Here we go deeper. I share honest reflections on overcoming burnout, the philosophy of mindfulness, self-compassion, walks and journaling, as well as the practical work of building a life that feels as good as it looks.
Why subscribe?
Because you are tired of the noise.
Because you want to find meaning in the “boring” parts of your day.
Because you suspect that the answers aren’t found in doing more, but in seeing more.
